BEAT GIRL 1960

Sleazy and irresistible! Adam Faith can rockabilly like Eddie Cochran. A moody, sullen teenage beat girl digs her heels in when her father remarries and she discovers her new “mother” has a sordid past! Beatniks, chicken, drag racing and strip tease. John Barry 7 soundtrack.

GARAGE ROCK U.S.A. 2001

U.S. documentary. Cool look at the mid-60s garage rock phenomenon that occurred as a result of the Beatles and British invasion of America. Tons of rare photos and interviews examine garage rock in the context of an original, authentic American musical art form. The sound evolved from “fun 45s music” to “serious LP music”; from rock 'n' roll edge to experimental psychedelic. Interviews include: Sky Saxon, Bun E. Carlos, & Jimy Sohns. Tons of great bands are heard and discussed, including The Seeds, Shadows Of Knight, The Mysterians, Knickerbockers, Count 5, Syndicate of Sound, Standells, Kingsmen, Castaways, Love, Sonics, and The Electric Prunes.

PHIL SPECTOR: HE'S A REBEL 1982

U.K. documentary. Fantastic early-60s footage of Phil Spector writing songs in his mansion and rehearsing the Crystals in the studio. Rare and interesting insight into Phil's eccentric personality through interviews with Ehmet Ertegun, Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller, Jeff Barry, Lester Sill, Sonny Bono, Bumps Blackwell, Darlene Love, Ronnie Spector, the Ramones and others. The Ramones tell of Phil threatening them with a gun! Also, Gold Star studio engineers Stan Ross and Larry Levine explain the secret of Phil Spector's “Wall of Sound”.
